Hi friends! Today I am sharing the easiest bread machine recipe that our family has loved for years. This basic white bread recipe is a crowd pleaser in our home (and actually anywhere we share it) every single time. It’s wildly easy to make, with just a few simple ingredients. The recipe requires very little effort, but tastes like it took all day! I’d even go as far as to call this particular recipe foolproof, as you simply toss in the ingredients and go. This is the perfect recipe for a quick bread that the whole family will love!
The crust is perfectly golden brown and crisp, while the inside is melt-in-your-mouth soft. Whenever I need a quick and delicious white bread recipe, this is my go to. And as a bonus, my house smells like absolute heaven while it’s baking.
What is homemade bread machine bread good served with?
My family loves using this particular loaf of bread for a wide variety of things, but we especially love it as sandwich bread and toast. I cannot stress enough though that it’s so yummy that it could be served as an amazing treat hot with butter and honey, all on its own! Or served hot and fresh as a dinner side.
Why use a bread machine?
Figuring out that I could make incredible bread in the bread machine was a game changer for me. Fresh, homemade bread with almost zero effort – sign me up! The convenience is unmatched — add the ingredients, select the right setting, and let the machine do the work. There’s no need to monitor the dough or worry about timing multiple rises. The bread machine handles everything from kneading to baking, ensuring consistent and delicious results.
What ingredients are needed for homemade bread dough?
Dry Ingredients:
– Salt
– Rapid Rise Yeast (or any yeast you have on hand)
– Bread flour
– Salt
– Sugar
Wet Ingredients:
– Vegetable Oil
– Water
Easy Bread Machine Bread (Step-by-Step):
1) Add yeast, cup of water (warm), and sugar to bread machine. No mixing involved, just toss it all in!
2) Let yeast dissolve and get nice and bubbly for 10 minutes. If your mixture isn’t bubbly after 10 minutes, give it a couple more minutes. If you still haven’t noticed any changes, your yeast may be dead or expired.
3) Add 3 cups of flour, oil, and salt to bread machine.
4) Select “Basic” white bread setting for your bread machine dough cycle and start.
5) Once bread machine has completed cycle (mine takes a couple of hours – about 2 1/2 hours – to complete the cycle), remove the loaf from bread pan and allow to cool for several minutes before slicing.
6) Enjoy fresh bread and save your new favorite bread recipe!
What bread machine should I use?
Our bread maker is incredibly old and was given to me used by my sister-in-law. In my opinion, any bread machine does the trick! The thrift store is a great place to find them – you by NO means need a new bread machine. However, if you are in need of one and haven’t had any luck finding a used one, this one is beloved on Amazon for just $60!
What kind of yeast do I use?
For this recipe, I used a bread machine yeast – an instant yeast/rapid rise yeast that is created specifically for bread machines. Fleischmanns Active Dry Yeast Rapid Rise Packets are my very favorite for homemade bread, and will also work (as well as any instant yeast) if you have them on hand!
You can use any yeast you may already have around as long as it is not expired. If it is not a rapid rise, you will just need to add it to hot (not scalding) water and then give it a little longer to rise that what I recommend in this recipe. You won’t mess this up. Once it’s nice and bubbly, it’s ready! Don’t overthink this part.
What is the best flour to use?
I personally find that bread flour is the best way to create a fluffy, yummy bread and get the very best results. However, all-purpose flour can be used as an alternative.

Ingredients
1 (.25 ounce) rapid rise yeast (or any you have on hand)
1 cup warm water
3 tablespoons white sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Add yeast, warm water, and sugar to bread machine.
- Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes (or until yeast is nice and bubbly).
- Add flour, oil, and salt to bread machine. Careful not to pack your flour. For extra fluffy bread, aerate your flour by whisking it around in a bowl and then spoon into measuring cup.
- Select “Basic” white bread setting, 1.5 loaf for your bread machine dough cycle and start.
- Once bread machine has completed cycle (mine takes a couple of hours – about 2 1/2 hours – to complete the cycle).
- Let bread cool on a wire rack for 1 hour before slicing for best results!
