Hey friends! If you’re looking for an easy, budget-friendly way to refresh your kitchen countertop, I’m here today to suggest some beautiful options for contact paper countertops. While I have not personally done this in my own home (if you’ve followed along very long, you know what we actually did epoxy countertops several years back), I’m in love with how simple and affordable this countertop makeover can be. I’ve personally seen people have incredible success with this project. Whether you’re working with old laminate countertops or need to update any counter you just don’t love, this is a great solution for getting a high-end look without going over budget.
When we painted our countertops several years back, I had more than one person advise me against it. Our countertops were a dated brown granite that I just didn’t love, and I dreamed for years of replacing them. The simple fact is, there is no cosmetic home project that is worth going into debt over – even countertops that just did not bring me joy. I almost listened to others that were telling me not to touch our granite countertops out of fear I would regret the decision, but I’m SO glad I didn’t. At the end of the day, others are not living in your home or cooking in your kitchen. YOU are, and it needs to bring YOU joy.
Are contact paper countertops a permanent solution?
If you’re considering using contact paper over countertops that you just do not love, but feeling hesitant, I’m here to give you courage. Contact paper counters are a WONDERFUL temporary solution for making your countertops something you love. I say temporary because I do not believe contact paper is a permanent solution, as 3 to 5 years is the average lifespan before peeling and wear becomes an issue. So while I’m not suggesting contact paper countertops as any permanent solution, I am saying that it’s a wonderful and stunning temporary solution until you can truly afford a permanent new countertop.
In this post, I am going to be linking beautiful options I’ve found for contact paper countertops. From matte stone and glossy marble to butcher-block, I’m giving several examples of beautiful, natural looking contact paper that will help to transform your countertops. With just a few materials like a heat gun, utility knife, and smoothing tool, you will be able to achieve a beautiful countertop makeover on a real budget.
