And most likely, you have most of the ingredients on hand! Trust me when I tell you this is so much better than a grocery store frozen pizza. This delicious french bread pizza is an almost weekly staple in our home lately, and guaranteed to be a family favorite.
This meal is this homemade french bread pizza affordable and simple to make, but it is also a great way to mimic he taste of homemade pizza without all the stress. It’s a favorite in our home for more reasons than one!
EASY FRENCH BREAD PIZZA RECIPE
This is the easiest meal and could not be more budget friendly. We usually have most of the ingredients on hand, so I just grab a loaf of fresh french bread and our favorite local pizza sauce from the store the week I know we are making it. No homemade dough necessary, but still a homemade taste!
One loaf of french bread feeds our family of 4 (with two younger kids). You can use your best judgement for how much you’ll need! Leftovers never hurt anyone 😉 The beauty of homemade pizza!
FRENCH BREAD PIZZA TOPPINGS
You can vary up this recipe by changing the store-bought sauce or making your own pizza sauce! Here’s a great recipe for a homemade pizza sauce.
Vary your toppings and add your favorite pizza toppings! Freshly grated cheeses, fresh mozzarella, fresh herbs, fresh basil, red onions, red pepper flakes, caramelized onions, italian sausage, parmesan cheese.
You can even whip up a garlic butter for dipping. Yum!
STEP-BY-STEP HOW TO MAKE EASY FRENCH BREAD PIZZA:
1. Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees.
2. Cut french bread down the middle to create two equal halves.
3. Drizzle bread with olive oil and bake for 4 – 5 minutes on a large baking sheet.
4. Add pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade). This recipe is in the sauce, so use your favorite!
5. Sprinkle cheese. We use pre-packaged mozzarella and grated parmesan, but freshly grated cheese would be a treat if you aren’t in a hurry!
6. Add desired toppings!
We went simple and just added sauce, mozzarella, and pepperoni.
7. Bake for 10 – 12 minutes. Broil for an additional minute or so for a toasty top.
You want this to be golden brown before removing it to ensure a crispy crust.
Those extra minutes of broiling will really give is the crispy crunch!
I hope you guys love this simple recipe and budget-friendly dinner as much as we do!
Until next time,

1 package of pepperoni (or your favorite toppings!)
1/4 cup of olive oil (or desired amount)
Directions

- Cut french bread down the middle to create two equal halves.
- Drizzle bread with olive oil.
- Put bread in the oven for 5 minutes and take out.
- Add pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni (or any other desired topping). I also added a dash of grated parmesan.
- Bake pizza 10 – 12, until cheese is melted and browned to your liking. I add an additional 1 – 2 minutes on broil to really toast the top and get it nice and crispy.
*I recommend moving your baking rack to the middle of your oven, to prevent overcooking on top or bottom.
