Hi friends! Today I’m sharing a list of ideas for budget friendly home trends that you can DIY. I’ve rounded up simple DIYs and ideas to help you get the look of what’s trending WITHOUT the price tag – yay!

10 Ideas for Budget Friendly Home Trends (That You Can DIY!) :
1. Warm Paint Colors
Cool whites and hues have taken a backseat in 2025. Instead, warm whites and cozy neutral paint colors are everywhere. These colors create a soft, welcoming backdrop that still feels light and airy, but with so much more depth.
We recently painted our kitchen cabinets Edgecomb Gray by Benjamin Moore, and our walls Shoji White by Sherwin Williams. Our home has never felt cozier! If you’re considering paint colors, you won’t be going wrong with warmer hues!
2. Faux Roman Shades
Roman shades have been on the scene the last few years as the most popular form of window covering. Faux roman shades are such a great way to bring this classic style to your home without spending a fortune to do it!

3. Fluted & Reeded Accents
Fluted and reeded textures are absolutely everywhere this year. You can DIY them with pole wrap or trim to add depth and detail to furniture or a wall.

4. Layered Lighting
Cozy lighting is in. Layering lighting is an incredibly simple way to make a home feel instantly cozier. Swapping out basic overheads for pendant lights, wall sconces, and table lamps makes a huge difference.
Layered lighting adds warmth and dimension, especially in rooms with lower ceiling heights. It’s a design tip I always recommend for creating that cozy, homey feel!
5. Secondhand Items
As a long time thrifter, I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to see thrift stores becoming the “cool thing.” Thrift stores, flea markets, estate sales, and Facebook Marketplace are some of the best places to find stylish, traditional pieces to bring into your home. Think vintage art, solid wood furniture, traditional pieces, or unique home decor items. These pieces tell a story and add a personal touch that just can’t be bought new.

6. Framed Family Photos & Art
Framing art and meaningful photos will never go out of style, but it’s HUGE in the year 2025. I love using printable art from Etsy and favorite family photos and framing them in thrifted, collected frames.
This is also an easy way to change your color palette with the seasons or reflect your personal style.

7. DIY Cafe Curtains
DIY cafe curtains is probably one of the MOST budget-friendly, trendy ways to add a personal touch to your space without a major renovation. These half-height curtains offer a charming, cozy vibe that is very in style.
You can customize colors, textures, or patterns to match your personal home style, and they’re quick and easy to make!

8. Picture Frame Molding
DIY stick-on picture frame molding is an easy way to embrace current home design trends while sticking to a budget. Picture frame molding timeless character and charm, a trend we are seeing everywhere right now. This mimics the look of traditional millwork without the cost or tools typically required.

9. Lived-In Hardware
One of my favorite budget-friendly decor ideas is swapping basic cabinet hardware for something that feels more custom. It’s a small change that gives cabinets and drawers a fresh update without replacing them.
We LOVE our aged brass cabinet hardware from Etsy, and it was far and away the most affordable option of its kind that we could find.
10. Shelving with Brass Rails
Floating shelves have been on the scene for quite some time, but now we are seeing them paired with traditional brass railing. What’s great about this project is that it doesn’t have to mean a full kitchen overhaul! A single, intentionally styled shelf is a simple way to introduce texture, personality, and that curated designer feel.
This DIY brass railing tutorial from Foxy Oxie is just brilliant.
I truly hope this list of 10 budget friendly home trends you can DIY gives you the inspiration you need to make a home that is both trendy and affordable!
You don’t need a huge renovation, just a few little elbow grease and creativity.
Until next time,
