My friends, let’s talk about home interior design trends for 2025 and all the goodness to come!

I, for one, am a huge fan of what’s been happening in the design world this past year, and what’s just around the corner. After years of whites, light neutrals, and minimalist spaces being considered “on trend” – it has made my heart so happy to see a resurgence back to everything cozy and inviting. There’s a shift taking place, away from museum-like homes, towards welcoming, lived-in spaces that feel like home. And as a mom of two small kids, that feels like a warm hug!

WHAT HOME INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS WE CAN EXPECT TO SEE IN 2025:

Traditional and Timeless

Rustic and farmhouse had us all in a chokehold for at least 10 years, didn’t it? But, as with all good things, that chapter is now closing. 2025 is shaping up to be the year of a full pivot towards traditional and timeless design. Shiplap will be replaced with classic architectural details that would make your great grandma proud—crown molding, wainscoting, arched doorways, etc.

Color Everywhere!

The era of all-white everything has come to a close. 2023 and 2024 eased us into color, but 2025 is drenching us in it. One trend I’m absolutely loving is color drenching. Walls, trim, and ceilings all painted in the same hue. This adds a certain sophisticated “drama” and moody feel to otherwise ordinary spaces, and it’s absolutely everything.

We will begin to see more colors in furniture fabrics, curtains, throw blankets, etc.

Moody Paint Colors

Darker and richer paint colors have seen a comeback over the past couple of years, and we are only leaning further into them this year. With shades like emerald green, forest green, sapphire blue, and even chocolate brown taking center stage. These shades pair beautifully with earthy tones and warm neutrals to create a cozy yet elevated vibe.

Vintage Pieces

The look people are after is “lived-in.” It is my honest belief that 2020 and being stuck inside for so long spurred a desire in many to have our homes be a haven.

Vintage pieces make our houses feel like home. Think aged wood dressers, scalloped lighting, copper pots, vintage rugs. Contrasting vintage and modern designs is a beautiful new spin on the traditional look, and it allows for sustainable practices through reuse.

The Nancy Meyers Aesthetic

This is my personal favorite part of what’s happening in the design world. Think Diane Keaton’s kitchen in Something’s Gotta Give or Meryl Streep in It’s Complicated. It’s cozy, welcoming, and charming all wrapped into one. Inviting and upscale style filled with warmth, character, and quality. Fresh flowers, glass cake domes filled with baked goods, natural materials, and layers of rich textures.

Dark & Warm Woods

We are saying goodbye to white-washed everything and saying hello to dark and rich woods. These pieces bring depth and luxury (again nodding to that Nancy Meyers aesthetic). Incorporating natural materials like wood, stone, and organic textures gives spaces a timeless, earthy feel.

Maximalism

Maximalism is moving in and minimalism is moving out. This is not about clutter! I repeat. This is NOT about clutter. I am a minimalist at heart, and you cannot take that away from me. What this means is that rather than our homes feeling like a museum, 2025 is about creating spaces that are full of life and personality. Layering bold colors, bold patterns, and mixing pieces that you truly love to make your own home reflect who you are. This trend embraces personal touch and leans into different elements like jewel tones, vintage vibes, and cozy elements to bring charm to every corner.

Wallpaper

Wallpaper really came onto the scene in 2024, but is hanging on strong in 2025. This year we will be seeing it shape into vintage patterns and bold designs as a way to give depth, charm, and personality to our homes. This will often be seen paired with traditional warm wood paneling and wall treatments such as wainscoting and bead-board.

The Unexpected Red Theory

The unexpected red theory is a relatively new design trend that will be making its way in to 2025. This is exactly what it seems it would be — adding a pop of red in a space you may not expect. This adds fun and whimsy without overpowering a space. The idea is that red is a timeless color that feels both vintage and new, and is a fun and easy way to bring a fresh look to a space.

home interior design trends for 2025

Home interior design trends for 2025 are all about embracing comfort, character, and classic details. It’s a celebration of spaces that feel personal and timeless, where beauty meets functionality and lived-in charm. From secondhand items to incorporating natural elements and sustainable materials, the focus is on making your home feel both intentional and welcoming.

Honestly, I couldn’t be more excited for this new year in design—one that makes our living spaces feel like the sanctuaries they’re meant to be.

Until next time,
Courtney
