When I started searching for the best white paint color, I realized pretty quickly that there are exactly 56782 shades of white paint. And there are about 112 that are recommended as the best. Whew, well that narrows it down!
UPDATE: We still love Ultra Pure White, but have since painted several rooms in our home Simply White by Benjamin Moore. It’s the perfect warm, bright white that isn’t TOO warm or too stark! See the post here.
We have never been white shade people. When we have painted accent walls, brick fireplaces, or even our built-ins — we used pure white straight from the can. I knew that I didn’t want the shade we chose to clash with the white we had already used throughout our home, and I didn’t want to risk it pulling any other tones.
Ultra Pure White in Behr Marquee it is.
This is a pure white without any undertones. I LOVE how crisp and clean it looks. We went with their matte finish to hide flaws. I’ve had satin sheen walls prior to this and it’s not forgiving when you need to touch up paint. You essentially have to repaint the entire wall to get the whole wall the same sheen again. I can also see roller strokes in different areas of our home where it dried in different sheens.
So in my opinion, do not go shinier than eggshell when choosing your wall paint. I also want to stress going with Behr Marquee or another brand of similar quality. We started with a cheaper pure white in the playroom, and it took twice the amount of coats to complete… edging and all. HOURS more work. I am all about saving money, but friends, when it comes to paint…. the extra 15 to 20 dollars is just worth it. Learn from me!
Hope this helps you in finding the best white paint color for your home!
